The instrument built at the beginning of the 20th Century by the Lorraine organ manufacturer Messrs. Dahlstein-Haerpfer with a wonderful neo-gothic organ frame was restored in the 1950’s. Part of the original and historic appearance was dramatically changed in the process. The playing tract, the wind supply and individual registers were adapted to the contemporary taste of that era. Our responsibility was mainly to restore the original and historic substance of the instrument. Moreover, the instrument proved to have rather unsteady wind and the playing tract was clumsy to handle.
These are the main tasks we carried out:
• complete cleaning and restoration of the pipe section
• restoring the wind section and enlarging the windline cross-sections
• renovating the mechanical section, restoring the original wind pressures
• recovering the original tune level, to a certain extent the pipes cut to a particular tune had to be extended again.
